Glen Mazzara, the former Walking Dead showrunner is in talks to write a prequel to Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’, originally based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name.

The prequel is rumoured to be titled ‘The Overlook Hotel’ and is currently in development at Warner Bros. The project will be produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Bradley Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis.

Mazzara left the Walking Dead as showrunner in December after reported clashes between him and AMC, the studio that produces the Walking Dead. Many fans were disappointed as Mazzara had steered The Walking Dead in the right direction after Frank Darabont, the original showrunner and creator of The Walking Dead TV series left in the beginning of season two with speculations saying this was also due to conflicts with the studio.

We’re looking forward to see what Mazzara can do with this concept, fingers crossed it’s more to Stephen King’s taste than Kubrick’s film.
