Last weekend Amour swept the board at the London’s Critics’ Circle awards. The French film written and directed by Michael Haneke and starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, won three awards including Screen writer of the Year and Film of the Year. The Master, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, came a close second. It collected two award including Actor of the Year for Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of a World War II veteran struggling to adjust to a post-war society.
Helena Bonham Carter scooped the Lifetime achievement award stating, “It feels like a rash. It suddenly seems like I’ve got a contagion of diseases, I mean awards. But it’s nice, it’s a nice feeling.”
