PBS have acquired the rights to the BBC’s upcoming adaptation of ‘Death Comes To Pemberley’. However this isn’t another Jane Austen novel, it’s actually written by crime writer, P.D. James.

Death Comes to Pemberley is set six years after the marriage of Lizzy Bennet to Mr Darcy and of course, Jane to Mr Bingly. However, marital bliss is rudely interrupted by a surprise arrival to Pemberley of a frantic Lydia screaming that her infamous husband, Mr Wickham, has been murdered. (Quick! smelling salts all round!)

After lots of confusion and shouts of ‘make haste’ the characters set to work unraveling the mystery of this murder and other threatening situations to come. This latest series is produced by BBC and is being filmed on location in Yorkshire. This echoes the English country setting of the well-known BBC’s Pride and Prejudice series which was filmed in Derbyshire, Austen’s fictional location of Pemberley.

The three-part miniseries has attracted a star-studded cast with many familiar faces from the period drama world.  Matthew Rhys (The Americans) is the star playing Mr. Darcy, Anna Maxwell Martin (Bleak House, Becoming Jane) is Elizabeth Darcy, Matthew Goode (Birdsong, Brideshead Revisited) is Mr. Wickham, and Jenna-Louise Coleman (Doctor Who) plays the rebellious Lydia Bennet.
