Miraculous Ladybug Cosplay at Hogwarts! Our magical new Cosplay Music Video

Miraculous Ladybug Cosplayers get a vacation fom Paris!

2022 Update – We have a brand new Miraculous Ladybug cosplay video out as Chloe and Marinette face off in a VLOG challenge! Watch it here!

By the summer of 2019, it had been three years since we started making Miraculous Ladybug cosplay music videos – that’s eight videos!

By the time we were planning the ninth video in the series, we wanted to explore these characters we love so much in a different way. A different universe if you will.

Being Brits, we’ve always loved the Harry Potter aesthetic. We found ourselves wondering what the cast of Miraculous Ladybug would look like if they attended Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry? And so the idea for Miraculous at Hogwarts was born!

The storyboarding process for this video was amazing fun. We had the chance to give Adrien, Marinette, Chloe and Sabrina slightly different character beats to what we’d done before, and give our regular cast of cosplayers a chance to stretch their acting muscles!

I returned to my role as Chloe Bourgeois, alongside Luminara as Marinette, RascalRabbit as Adrien and Rhilentless as Sabrina.

We also had the difficult task of sorting the characters into their respective Hogwarts houses.

Chloe was fairly obviously a Slytherin (being practically the girl version of Draco Malfoy). We felt that Gryffindor was a good fit for Marinette/Ladybug.

Adrien and Sabrina were quite the struggle! We pondered for ages whether Adrien was more of a Gryffindor or a Hufflepuff, and whether Sabrina was a Hufflepuff or Slytherin.

In the end, the hat sorted Adrien into Gryffindor (due to his Cat Noir personality shining through!) and Sabrina into Slytherin. (a controversial choice according to our comment section, but would Chloe really hang out with a Hufflepuff? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.)

It was a lot of fun to put together the costumes and props for this video! Each character needed their iconic Hogwarts uniform, which gave the cosplayers a chance to get creative with their looks. Luminara even created a custom wand for Marinette!

On a sunny September day (we got lucky with the weather for this shoot!) we set off into a local woodland area to begin filming. We had a long shot-list to get through so it was all hands on deck.

We managed to get everything filmed as the sun was setting on the London skyline, and the only scene we had to film in the dark was the final potion making scene… which if I’m being honest, looked ten times cooler in the dark.

Editing this video was an absolute joy! From soundtracking, to magical visual effects, to sound design, this was definitely one of the most spell-binding projects I’ve ever worked on. (Pun intended.)

Though I have to say, doing the sound design for the scene where Chloe protects Marinette from a swarm of bees was not the nicest thing I’ve ever done!

The video was released on our channel just before Christmas 2019, and you can watch it again above this article! You can also see the behind the scenes vlog here.
