The king of soundtracks has finally won his crown!

It has been announced that Hans Zimmer will be awarded the ‘outstanding contribution to music’ prize; the highest honour bestowed at the classical Brit awards this October. Hans Zimmer has created the soundtracks for many iconic movies including The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Pirates Of the Caribbean, Inception.

The ceremony will take place on October 2 at the Royal Albert Hall. Previous composers honoured at these awards include John Marry and John Williams.

Zimmer will add this award to a crowded mantle-piece of trophies: in previous years he has won an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, four Grammys and a Classic Brit.
