Peter Jackson will not be directing any upcoming Doctor Who episodes. Rumours were rife over the internet last week that Jackson would be directing an episode of Doctor Who in the upcoming series 8.

However, Deadline reports that Jackson has no plans to guest direct on the prestigious sci-fi show. Jackson has been offered an open-ended invitation by the show bosses to direct if and when Jackson were available. No formal talks or deals have been entered into.

Jackson is currently working on the final two films in the Hobbit trilogy which will be released this year and 2014.

We quite like Peter Jackson here at the Eighty Sixth Floor and we’d love to see a Jackson ‘Who’ episode but only if he was given a strict running time. As much as we love Doctor Who we don’t think we could handle a 3 hour long episode ! Would you like to see Peter Jackson direct an episode of Doctor Who ? Perhaps you think he’s overrated ? The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is due for release December 13.
